Project case
Kaiten Tokyo
Mexico City, Mexico · Sushi restaurant environment
About the project
Kaiten Tokyo Mexico City combines conveyor-belt sushi with the energy of a neon streetscape. Layered Japanese-style signs, lanterns and translucent coloured panels glow against a dark backdrop. Curving counters, a glass canopy and timber-toned seating make the movement of food part of the experience. Elevated signs, stair views and playful displays add further visual layers.
A reading of the space
Design approach
A dark envelope gives the illuminated graphics a clear hierarchy. Seating follows the conveyor so that the action stays within view, while warm timber brings tactile balance to the strong neon palette. Signs, lanterns and display elements at different heights use the room's vertical dimension to evoke an indoor urban scene.
